To celebrate World Book Day, which this year was celebrated on the 22nd of April, the Schools Library Service (SLS) within the Directorate for Educational Services organised a writing competition for all Primary school pupils around Malta and Gozo. Our school participated with students from two Primary classes: Yr 4 and Yr 6. The children had to write an original short story of not more than 400 words in English or Maltese.
Sara Treki from Class 4D was one of the students who submitted her story and who won a consolation prize for her original story ‘The girl with super powers!!!’

This year, MERCS Malta is proud to announce that it took part in the third annual medieval event, organised by Mariam Albatool School.
On this special day, students from the school attended an interactive show featuring the medieval way of life and warfare. An educational journey, that goes back to our Maltese heritage. Apart from various demonstrations, the students and teachers took part in our popular archery range, which was a HUGE success! MERCS Malta would really like to thank Mr Kenneth Busuttil, as well as the assistant heads, teachers and of course the students for making us feel more than welcome.
A big round of Applause goes to Cleve Zammit, Dylan Sultana, Christine Montebbello, Christian Zammit (aka ZAZU) George Bezzina and our newest Members Mikal Suleiman, Abdullah and Aisha Elsadi for making this event a truly great one.A special mention goes to Lawrence Sultana for all the help he gave us.

On Thursday 18th February 2016, members from the police force visited Mariam Albatool School. They gave an interesting exhibition with police cars and motorcycles and explained the functions of the police force for the protection of citizens. The activity was organized by year 2 class teachers Ms Doris Schembri and Ms Monique Mizzi. Children from both classes had the opportunity to explore both vehicles and ask questions to the CMRU policemen who were so kind as to satisfy the children’s curiosity. This activity was part of our theme occupations.
The school administration would like to thank Ms Doris and Ms Monique for their excellent coordination.
Below are photos of the activity.
On Wednesday 3rd February 2016 all four kindergarten classes from Mariam Albatool School together with a number of mothers went to the playmobil funpark.
At the park children had the opportunity to play with a variety of toys while parents interacted with teachers. Both parents and teachers were offered complimentary teas and coffees. After the play activities, the children were given a catalogue, a toy, a colouring page and a playmobil sticker. After the activity, parents were reminded that the next event will be held during the fourth week of May. The school administration would like to thank all kindergarten teachers, their assistants and parents for organising the activity.
