Meeting a fisherman!
Today a fisherman came to visit one of our kindergarten classes,. He was invited by Ms Romina Bugeja to speak about his profession and to present some of his tools to the children. He spoke about the fishing tackle that is used by fishermen when fishing.
He showed the children some hooks, lines, sinkers, floats, rods, reels, baits, lures, nets, gaffs, traps, waders and tackle boxes. He also demonstrated the use of the gear that is attached to the end of a fishing line such as swivels, sinkers, floats, split rings and wire, snaps, beads, spoons, blades, spinners and clevises to attach spinner blades to fishing lures. He also taught the children how to make simple and complex knots and how to attach hooks to them. I must say that the children really enjoyed the activity and are now looking forward to meeting the fisherman again for a practical session on fishing !!
Thank you to Mr John Bugeja for his excellent presentation. A big word of thanks also go to Ms Romina Bugeja who is always on the lookout for enhanced emerging teaching methodologies. Well done!!
